Are You Ready for Beauty
Apr 12, 2024In the course of one’s life, each passing year paints a picture of experiences, wisdom, and resilience. Our journey is highlighted by moments of triumph and challenge, each contributing to the fullness of our existence. Every day, life’s responsibilities require decisions we have to make, conversations we have to have, and actions that we have to take... It's not a complaint. It’s just that in the midst of all this, sometimes we forget about ourselves.
Yet, there comes a time when something stirs deep within us; a yearning or perhaps an invitation to behold the richness of life with renewed insight.
Reaching a certain age is more than just a milestone. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the events, circumstances, and lessons—whether by intention or default— that have shaped us and to honor the strength and grace that have carried us through the seasons of our lives. There is beauty in this. One that we can redefine on our own terms.
As we continue to mature, how liberating, how wonderful to come to a point where we decide to forgo the pursuit of unattainable ideals and shed the layers of self-doubt and insecurity. We learn to take imperfections or even the things we’re not so proud of as symbols of a life fully lived and lessons bravely learned. Clutching to the vestiges of youth pales in comparison to the power of rediscovering and expressing who we are now, to accessing and embracing the inherent beauty within us.
Beauty is joy; beauty is disappointment. Beauty knows no bounds. It transcends age, race, location, and background. I believe in beauty that goes beyond what’s superficial, that comes from wisdom, peace, and acceptance. A beauty that brings pleasure because I can see beyond what it can do for me or how it can make me look; because I can appreciate how it came into existence and the journey it has been on.
